Our friends Larisa, Sharon, Crystal, and Katie, along with Super Dan (Dr. B) had worked their magic and the Zoo was secure for Nina's Saturday party. We were completely humbled by all the work and effort that so many had put into organizing this day for us! Dozens upon dozens of people were helping, donating their time and money, to make this magical day for our family come true! God's provision through this entire ordeal had been constant, albeit not always completely visible to the naked eye or heart.
Radiation went well today. Today she demanded oatmeal with brown sugar for breakfast and so she got it! For lunch it was Panda Express. During the rest of the afternoon, Nina was fairly fatigued. Unfortunately, Nina's port still wasn't working so the oncology department had made an appointment for us to have a x-ray study on Friday afternoon immediately after treatment. This way, we would be able to tell what the problem was and hopefully fix it. However, given our lack of luck lately, I doubted that the prognosis would be on our side.
By the time we got home, we were all exhausted. Eileen took a nap with Nina, while I went to pick up Teddy. To my delight, Teddy asked if he could go to his friend Will's house. I was ecstatic and relieved. It had taken me all of last year with diligent collaboration from his teacher to get him to go to a friend's house for a play date. Then, he practically required that play dates be at our home. Now, it was the second week and he exuded confidence and eagerness! I loved it and thanked God above for giving us the boldness to work on these issues!!
The rest of the afternoon and evening was mild. We did not do much given the anticipation we had regarding everyone who was attending the zoo party!! As I lay my head now to sleep, I thanked God for all the joy, opportunities, and small miracles He was giving us on a daily basis!
