Two Too Many

Two years today, but it might as well be two minutes ago. I still see Nina's precious face as clearly as the last time I kissed her goodnight, and I still catch myself waiting to hear her laugh. Two years too many without our honey-girl and yet not a single day goes by without us remembering and being thankful for all the joy she brought to our lives.

And now, our darling angel is no longer alone in Heaven (as her remarkable brother used to worry about). On February 1st, 2013 my loving father, Estevao "Steve" Matos, passed away in bed without warning and after spending the most wonderful afternoon working along side the love of his life on their Nina memorial garden.

Two too many, yet we thrive on the love, joy, and wisdom we received from our angels!

Empty shoes can never ever be refilled but their footsteps should be followed forever!!

  2. I don't know your family, but I came upon your blog a few years ago by way of another one that I follow. I just wanted to say that Nina's story really touched me and made me truly appreciate the time I have with my babies (well, they're 5 & 4 now). She will never be forgotten and I wanted to thank you for sharing your story. Prayers to you always, but even more so at this time. I am so sorry to hear that your father passed, but how wonderful that Nina now has her grandpa in heaven with her! I'm sure the smiles were big when they met again <3 Thank you for the update and I wish you and your family peace and comfort.

  5. Rosy,
I am so sorry to hear of your father's passing. As you said, Nina is no longer alone in Heaven. They have each other and that is truly magical. The picture of the two of them is simply beautiful- thank you for sharing.
I think of you and Nina and Teddy so often- sending love always, especially at this time.
